Glenn Cornett, MD, PhD
Dr. Cornett is presently the CEO of Navitas Pharma.  His career has been varied and illustrious including leadership positions in both the consulting world with McKinsey  and Arthur D. Little and the world of business with Eli Lilly, and Razorfish.  In 2000, Dr. Cornett founded the Metastrat Corporation, a company delivering deal brokering and strategic advisory services to science and technology intensive companies.  Privately held companies relied on him to create business plans, financial models and most importantly to help them raise the requisite capital needed to become a viable business.  He also worked with publicly traded companies supplying much needed expertise in business strategy.  Dr. Cornett previously built and ran a business development and strategy unit at Casio’s R&D center.  He developed digital multimedia strategy and work on a number of deals, including a three-way agreement between Casio, AT&T and a startup company to test a new technology.  Dr. Cornett has successfully managed business affairs in Europe and Asia as well as in the US.  Dr. Cornett earned his MD in Research from the University of Michigan Medical School and PhD in Neuroscience from the University of California, Los Angeles.  He earned a BA in Chemistry, awarded with University Honors from Brigham Young University.  He also holds a Mini-MBA from McKinsey & Company.

Dr. Charity F. Smith, PhD Arkansas Department of Education Assistant Commissioner
Dr. Charity Smith is the assistant commissioner for the Arkansas Department of Education. In this capacity, she helps to ensure that all school districts in Arkansas are held accountable for improving student achievement. During her tenure, Arkansas has received national recognition in a number of areas, including rigorous academic standards, accountability, reporting, teacher quality, and consistent academic improvement.

Smith leads the Division of Public School Academic Accountability, which Education Week rated as one of the highest-performing state offices of academic accountability in the nation. She is a Rockefeller Distinguished Lecturer, the director of the Arkansas Legislative Black Caucus Think Tank, and founder of the Accelerated Academic Achievement Academy. Smith also co-hosted the event for the national unveiling of statues of the Little Rock Nine at the Arkansas State Capitol.

A nationally requested consultant and presenter, her recent work includes Setting of Standards for the Arkansas Accountability Rating System (2007), and contributing authorship on Current Developments in K-12 Education: Near and Longer Term Trends (2007).

Bryan Boyer, JD, PhD
Dr. Brian S. Boyer is a scientific generalist with technical expertise in the health sciences with particular emphasis in chemistry, chemical engineering, materials science, biology, radiology, anatomy, and physiology.  Although he has experience in all aspects of intellectual property law, he focuses his practice on patent prosecution, opinion work, and portfolio planning for industries that provide innovations incorporating these technical disciplines. These industries often include semiconductor and various information technology oriented industries.  His technical contributions to several successful litigations have included analysis of technical issues, development of deposition questions and selection of experts.

Before joining Perkins Coie LLP, Brian was an associate at a variety of top law firms including Squire, Sanders & Dempsey LLP, Pennie & Edmonds LLP, and Wallenstein & Wagner Ltd, each of which are recognized in the legal field as either a leading general practice law firm or a leading intellectual property boutique having national and international recognition..  Brian focused on patent prosecution and opinion work for life-science clients, as well as semiconductor fabrication and related systems that include information technologies.  His current practice includes representing start-up companies and serving as the principal contact for satisfying their legal needs.  Some of the clients that Brian has represented include, for example, Roche, Roche Molecular, Roche Bioscience, Tularik, Novacea, Selective Genetics, Attenuon, EPRI, Synthes, Baxter Healthcare, Guidant, Thoratec, Formurex, A-Cube, EKC/DuPont, and Ebara.

Prior to practicing law, Brian worked as a research scientist working with lignocellulosics and as a radiologic technologist in major medical centers specializing in operating and emergency room radiology as well as diagnostic radiology.  He is currently a member of the Silicon Valley Intellectual Property Association, Technical Association of the Pulp and Paper Industry, and American Registry of Radiologic Technologists. Mr. Boyer has a J.D. from Santa Clara University.  He also holds an M.S. and Ph.D. from Georgia Tech University.

Suzanne Taylor, AB, MBA
Suzanne Taylor is a marketing professional who helps companies acquire more customers, create great products, and improve customer retention.  Her area of expertise is building businesses through customer driven innovation.  Ms. Taylor’s client list includes Intuit, Yahoo!, Adobe, Palm, Microsoft, and several high-tech startups.  Ms. Taylor worked for Intuit, Inc. for eight years in a variety of marketing roles including Quicken product manager, customer insight, and corporate marketing.  She also worked in brand management at the Clorox Company leading marketing efforts for Fresh Step cat litter and Formula 409 spray cleaner brands.

Ms. Taylor has led product teams through the full product development life cycle and has managed all elements of the marketing mix, both online and offline.  She has taught two marketing classes at Stanford University and holds Stanford AB and MBA degrees.  Ms. Taylor co-authored a book titled Inside intuit: How the Makers of Quicken Beat Microsoft and Revolutionized an Entire Industry, published by Harvard Business School Press in 2003. Symantec selected Inside Intuit for a company-wide management book club discussion in 2004.
